Support Workers
(up to 40 hours/week)

West District is currently accepting applications for Full-Time, Part-Time and Relief Support Worker positions in Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Halton, Peel, Hamilton and Niagara areas.  

Support Workers are the caregivers that minister to the individuals supported by Christian Horizons.  They offer spiritual, physical and social counsel, supervision and support – to promote personal growth, and enhance quality of life.  Support Workers give direct care as needed.  They assist with activities of daily living and promote implementation of person centered plans.  They work together as a Self Managing Work Team (SMWT) and complete administrative duties as assigned.  Support Workers act as an example of Christ to supported individuals, fellow staff members and all other contacts internal and external to the organization.

Applicants should have a Developmental Service Worker Diploma or equivalent education and related work experience.  Other requirements include a minimum “G” driver’s license, First Aid/CPR, Non Violent Crisis Intervention, and a commitment to Person Centered Support. 
Computer literacy would be beneficial.

Support Workers - Designated Treatment Program

West District is currently accepting applications for Full-Time, Part-Time and Relief Support Worker positions in Guelph for our Designated Treatment Program.

Support Workers are the caregivers that minister to the people supported by Christian Horizons.  They offer spiritual, physical and social counsel, supervision and support – to promote personal growth, and enhance quality of life.  Support Workers give direct care as needed.  They assist with activities of daily living and promote implementation of person-centered plans.  They work together as a Self Managing Work Team (SMWT) and complete administrative duties as assigned.  Support Workers act as an example of Christ to supported persons, fellow staff members and all other contacts internal and external to the organization.

In addition to these tasks, a Support Worker at the Designated Treatment Program will work daily with the people supported to complete teaching programs to facilitate growth in target areas. An ability to work in a changing environment and actively participate in individualized behaviour support plans will be an asset to those seeking employment as a Support Worker in our Designated Treatment Program.

Applicants should have a Developmental Service Worker Diploma or equivalent education and related work experience.  Other requirements include a minimum “G” driver’s license, First Aid/CPR, Safe Management and a commitment to Person Centered Support. Computer literacy would be beneficial.

Support Workers - Step Up/Down Program

West District is currently accepting applications for Full-Time, Part-Time and Relief Support Worker positions in Peel for our Step Up/Down Program.

Support Workers are the caregivers that minister to the people supported by Christian Horizons.  They offer spiritual, physical and social counsel, supervision and support – to promote personal growth, and enhance quality of life.  Support Workers give direct care as needed.  They assist with activities of daily living and promote implementation of person-centered plans.  They work together as a Self Managing Work Team (SMWT) and complete administrative duties as assigned.  Support Workers act as an example of Christ to supported persons, fellow staff members and all other contacts internal and external to the organization.

In addition to these tasks, a Support Worker at the Step Up/Down Program will help to define any barriers a person may have to living as independently as possible. They will work as a team to develop strategies specific to these needs.  They will also work daily with the people supported to complete teaching programs to facilitate growth in these target areas. An ability to work in a changing environment and actively participate in creating and implementing skill building programs is an asset.

Applicants should have a Developmental Service Worker Diploma or equivalent education and related work experience.  Other requirements include a minimum “G” driver’s license, First Aid/CPR, Non-violent Crisis Intervention and a commitment to Person Centered Support. Computer literacy is essential due to the nature of this program and experience in teaching/coaching is a definite asset.
